The Master of Science (SM) degree program provides the essential skills and depth of knowledge needed to have a high-impact career in academia, industry, or policy analysis. Offered in several different lengths and areas of specialization (42.5-credit, 60-credit, and 80-credit), applicants are able to identify the program that best suits their unique educational goals, level of professional experience, and prior education.
The Master of Science 80-credit program (SM-80) is designed for graduates with bachelor’s degrees who want to better serve public health through research. SM-80 students receive rigorous quantitative training and essential skills to create and advance their knowledge of community health. The SM-80 is appropriate for students considering entering the workforce, or pursuing doctoral-level work or master’s level medical research positions upon completion.

Application requirements
All applications must be submitted through SOPHAS – the centralized application for schools and programs of public health. In addition to the application, applicants must submit:
- Statement of purpose and objectives
- Official test scores (required)
- Three letters of reference
- Resumé/curriculum vitae
- Post-secondary transcripts or mark sheets (World Education Services credential evaluation for applicants with degrees from outside of the United States.)
- English language proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo English Test), if applicable
