Symposium: Environmental Health Research for Action: From Bench to Communities

October 25, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Flyer

Join us for our first symposium of the year. Taking the place of our monthly colloquia, we are planning 3 symposia this year in which we invite multiple guests to discuss a topic. The first symposia will be centered on ‘Environmental Health Research for Action: From Bench to Communities’. This session will be held in person in HSPH Building 1, 1302. Light refreshments will be served.

This mini-symposium will review opportunities for making environmental health research more responsive to public health, community and/or policy needs by: (1)  facilitating participants’ ability to consider new approaches to their scholarship to increase its impact and responsiveness to pressing needs; and (2) seeding new research collaborations and ideas. Panelists will share approaches to increasing research impact via environmental health intervention studies, community engaged studies, research communication, solutions oriented bench science, and application of environmental health research to individual-level clinical care. There will be ample time for Q&A to discuss participants’ research questions and needs.

Guest speakers include:

  • Gary Adamkiewicz, Associate Professor of Environmental Health Exposure Disparities and Community Engagement Core Director
  • Mary Rice, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Institute for Lung Health
  • Katie Tomsho, Research Fellow and Harvard T.H. Chan Pedagogy Lead Fellow
  • Kris Sarosiek, Associate Professor of Radiation Biology and Cell Death, acting Co-Director of the JBL Center
