The Harvard Chan-NIEHS Center draws membership from faculty and scientists in the departments of Environmental Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Genetics & Complex Disease, and Global Health & Population at the Harvard School of Public Health. Other Center members are based at Harvard Medical School, the Harvard teaching hospitals, and other local institutions.
Membership Criteria
Applicants for Center membership must:
- Hold a faculty or research scientist appointment at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health or elsewhere at Harvard (postdocs are not eligible to apply for membership)
- Demonstrate research productivity in an area related to one of the three Research Cores of the Center,
- Demonstrate competence in disciplines related to environmental health,
- Demonstrate collaboration with other Center members or clearly articulate plans for collaboration with Center members
Benefits of Center Membership
Center members have access to the services provided by the Facility Cores, and are eligible to apply for Pilot Project and Facility Access funding. Working with the Research Core leaders, they can also solicit support for invited speakers and other enrichment activities. Center members are also welcome to attend and participate in a wide array of seminars, workshops, and colloquia.

To apply for Center membership, download and complete the Center Membership Application and return it, along with your recent NIH Biosketch, to niehsctr@hsph.harvard.edu. Applications for membership are reviewed monthly during the academic year by the Center Executive Committee.
