Where are you from and what do you enjoy most about your hometown?

I’m from Fuzhou, China. What I appreciate most about my hometown are its scenic mountains, delectable food, and the rich culture of tea-drinking. These elements create a serene and fulfilling environment that I enjoy the most.

What is your research focused on?

My research delves into the biology of aging, one of my primary focuses is on identifying causal molecular and environmental factors that contributes to aging-related phenotypes. I developed several novel biomarkers of aging, aiming for a comprehensive understanding of age-related changes. I’ve also developed ClockBase, a resource that quantifies biological ages for almost all existing datasets (over 300,000 samples), which may facilitate the discovery of novel anti-aging interventions.

What is your favorite part of your research?

The most rewarding aspect of my research is the potential for real-world impact. The causal aging biomarkers I’ve identified and the ClockBase platform could potentially facilitate the discovery of new longevity interventions and revolutionize our approach to aging.

How do you relax when you’re not working?

To unwind, I engage in fencing and enjoy listening to baroque music. I also write poetry in the ancient Chinese style. I enjoy learning new things not directly related to my work, such as math, physics, and philosophy.
