- Attend a multi-day training by The OpEd Project focused on how to craft powerful opinion pieces and pitch them for publication
- Actively participate in monthly hybrid cohort meetings hosted by Dr. Brittany Charlton and Amanda Yarnell with special guests from the opinion sections of publications such as Harvard Public Health, Boston Globe, and STAT
- Publish at least one op-ed
- Employ best practices in personal branding, social media content strategy, and digital safety

The LGBTQ Health Center of Excellence is a partnership between the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. It works to advance health equity for LGBTQ communities with a focus on training, research, and dissemination.
Selected Fellows will be announced on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 4pm at the launch of the LGBTQ Health Center of Excellence. Please ensure you RSVP.
When will Fellows attend the two-day training by The OpEd Project?
Fellows must attend a multi-day training by The OpEd Project in June, July, or August 2024. Dates are available from The OpEd Project and Fellows can choose any available workshop.
What if a Fellow has already completed The OpEd Project Core Workshop?
Fellows who have already completed the Core Workshop titled “Write to Change the World” can instead meet the training requirement by attending the Advanced Workshop titled “Accelerating Ideas.” If this Advanced Workshop is not available in June, July, or August, Fellows can make other arrangements with Drs. Charlton and Yarnell.
Are there any costs associated with this Fellowship?
The Fellowship will cover all costs, including The OpEd Project’s training (valued at $500) and monthly cohort meetings.
When and where will the monthly cohort meetings occur?
Monthly cohort meetings will take place in September, October, November, and December 2024 at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. While in-person attendance is preferred, a remote option will be available. These meetings will be scheduled once Fellows are selected to ensure everyone can attend.
