Degree Applications

Students enrolled in the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health MPH in Clinical Effectiveness and MS in Epidemiology degree programs begin these programs by taking the Program in Clinical Effectiveness. This allows students to complete approximately one-third of their degree by the end of the summer, providing them the flexibility and opportunity to pursue research opportunities while completing the rest of the degree requirements. This may also be the case for other School MPH/MS Degree Programs, but applicants should check with the administrators of those programs.

Degree Application Instructions for all other degree program applicants interested in the PCE:

  • 2024 PCE Application Supplement – Submit this brief online form.
  • Degree Application – Submit your SOPHAS degree application, application materials, and application fee online.
  • SOPHAS Express Application, which includes:
    • $50 Non-Refundable Application Fee
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Personal Statement
      • One page document addressing the reasons you wish to attend this program, your professional goals and why you feel that this program will be beneficial to you.
    • Three Evaluations (Letters of Recommendation)
      • Recommendations detailing your clinical ability and/or research potential.
      • One recommendation should be from your division/department head verifying your affiliation during the summer you plan to attend the PCE.
    • Transcripts (Optional) *There is no need to resubmit transcripts through SOPHAS Express, as these will be visible in SOPHAS.
    • Standardized Tests (Optional) *There is no need to resubmit test scores through SOPHAS Express, as these will be visible in SOPHAS.

Admissions Process

Degree applicants will receive two admissions decisions: one from the PCE Admissions Committee and one from the Harvard Chan School Admissions Office. Acceptance to the PCE does not guarantee acceptance to a degree program at the School and vice versa. See more about our Admissions Process and Waitlist.
