Dr. Bukhtawar Azhar, a dentist trained in Pakistan, completed her Master’s in Public Health at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2023. Prior to her master’s, she was the founder and program manager for the Program of Safe Dentistry, where she worked on improving infection prevention control policies and practices in Pakistan. She also dedicated her efforts to improving dental practice management in the region. During her master’s, she shifted her focus to understanding the contextual challenges that healthcare systems face in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and developed an interest in comprehending the role that the private sector and health startups play in addressing these issues to establish resilient and value-oriented health systems. At the lab, she has been actively involved in the Venture Incubation Program and is currently working on the Global Collaborative for Changing Diabetes in Children Project.
