As a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) student and Prajna Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Dr. An Na has worked in the field of humanitarian aid for more than a decade. She started her career as Gynaecologist/Obstetrician for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)’s projects in Sierra Leone, Somaliland(Somalia), Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan. She was the Project Coordinator of sexual and reproductive health projects in Manila, Philippines, and the Country Representative in China of MSF. After completing of MPH at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. An Na worked as a physician specialist delegate, and as part of the hospital management team for the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC) in Yemen and Afghanistan since 2019. She covered multiple positions while facing all the challenges in resources limited settings during the COVID pandemic. This experience made her realize that a comprehensive strategy and a coherent leadership are necessary for successful collaboration and implementation during an emergency, in which Public Health plays an essential role.

Before joining humanitarian work, Dr. An Na trained as a gynecological oncology specialist and worked at Peking University Cancer Hospital as an attending physician. She published several medical papers on Oncology and popular science readings. She is an active public speaker on global humanitarian work by introducing her field experience to medical professionals and the general public in China. Her goal after DrPH Program is to be able to lead the field operations which could have impacts on the health system and policy change at a national/international level, for the benefit of the under-served populations, especially women and children in every corner of the world.

Dr. An Na loves traveling around the world, enjoys diving in the magnificent pacific ocean, hiking in the mountains in rural Beijing where she spent her childhood, and she is improving her archery skill.
