“In Defense of Food” nominated for Emmy

In Defense of Food, a PBS documentary based on the book of the same name by Michael Pollan, has been nominated for an Emmy award. The documentary, which first aired in December 2015, features interviews with scientists, nutrition experts, physicians, food activists, chefs, policy makers, historians, and food company executives.

One of those featured is Walter Willett, Fredrick John Stare Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition and chair of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

In the documentary, Pollan explores what people should eat to be healthy—correcting misconceptions, revealing the drawbacks of processed foods, and outlining how to reduce the risk of diet-related diseases.

Emmy award winners will be announced at a dinner in New York City on September 21, 2016.
