The Harvard Longwood Campus Institutional Review Board (HLC IRB) is responsible for the review and oversight of human research conducted by faculty, staff, and students of Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

HLC IRB is guided by the ethical principles set forth in the Belmont Report (Ethical Principles and Guidelines for the Protection of Human Subjects of Research).  HLC IRB complies with local applicable laws governing the human research, the minimum standards of which are set by the Department of Health and Human Services regulations at 45 CFR part 46 and the Food and Drug Administration regulations at 21 CFR part 50 and 21 CFR part 56.
