The PDA Buddy System Initiative

Dear Postdoctoral Research Fellows,

The PDA has started a new initiative to help incoming international post-docs’ transition to Harvard and life in Boston. The initiative involves pairing existing international post-docs and/or research associates with prospective and incoming international post-docs and/or research associates based on geographic region of origin. The “buddy system” is entirely voluntary and we are looking for volunteers who would be willing to act as buddies to incoming fellows.

What will the process be?

All incoming international post-docs will be notified about the buddy system by the OFA. Should they want to be paired with a buddy, the new post-doc will be directed to contact the PDA. The PDA will check the availability of buddies from the same region; if you are one of these, we will email you to again confirm your participation, before sharing your contact information. With your approval, we then will connect you with your buddy. You may ask to be removed from the buddy system database at any time.

Will my information be kept confidential?

The database of buddies will be kept securely and managed exclusively by the PDA. No information will be shared with anyone outside the PDA, including an incoming post-doc, without your explicit consent.

I’m interested in becoming a buddy, what do I do?

If you think that this is something that you would like to be involved in, we kindly request that you register yourself here.

If you have any queries about this new initiative, please do not hesitate to email us at newpostdoc@hsph.harvard.edu.
Thank you in advance for your participation!

Kind Regards,
