Academic Information
Academic Calendar
The HSPH Academic Calendar is aligned with those of other Harvard graduate schools.
Important future dates are listed in our Summary and Planning Calendars.
Meeting With Your Advisor
The name of your advisor will be on your check-in label. You should schedule an appointment with them once you arrive on campus to discuss the appropriate selection of courses for your degree program. Please keep in mind that some faculty members have offices located off the Harvard Chan School campus.
Your class enrollment is considered finalized only after you have met with your advisor. Your class enrollment will be locked on the Add/Drop/Change deadline of the associated term, so you must meet with your advisor prior to these deadlines to review your enrollment. Once you have met with your advisor, he/she will electronically approve your class enrollment via my.Harvard.
If you have any questions regarding advising, please contact your program/department.
Course Enrollment
Students enroll in classes electronically via my.Harvard. You will be able to search the Harvard Chan School’s course schedule, and select the classes you wish to take. All enrollment dates and deadlines are listed on our Academic Calendar. Please keep in mind that this is not considered your final course enrollment. You will be expected to meet with your advisor upon arrival at the School, to obtain final approval for your selected courses. All enrollments must be finalized by the term’s add/drop/change deadline.
For additional instructions on how to enroll in classes, enrollment policies, and credit limits please visit our Student Knowledge Center.
Should you have any questions regarding your department’s academic requirements, please contact your department administrator.

Admissions ContingencyNew students must meet all admissions contingencies specified in their admissions checklist on the my.harvard portal prior to enrolling in classes.
All students need to present official documentation in the form of transcripts, and World Education Services (WES) evaluations. If you submitted official transcripts or WES evaluations to SOPHAS, we will be able to access those documents. If you still have a To-Do item showing that we have not received the WES evaluation or the official transcripts, please contact our the Admissions Office
As a matter of policy, students may be enrolled in only one degree program at a time. Only those students in approved programs may be enrolled in more than one degree program at a time. The approved programs are limited to: MD/MPH, JD/MPH, and MUP/MPH.
For this reason, any student scheduled to begin a degree program at the School must show proof of degree conferral for all prior post-secondary degrees. In the case of any extenuating circumstances, please contact the Admissions Office as soon as possible. Waivers of this requirement must be approved by the Enrollment Committee of the Office of Student Services.
If any contingencies are not submitted in a timely fashion, your matriculation and graduation eligibility will be impacted. If you have any questions about admissions contingencies, please contact the Admissions Office.
Math Review
If Math Review is a required contingency, we understand that this will not be satisfied by check-in day. Upon completion of Math Review, we will receive a list of those students who have satisfied the contingency, however, you must register for and attend Math Review if this is one of your required contingencies.
Admissions Deferral
Admitted students should note deferral requests are reviewed only in rare exceptional circumstances. Deferrals are not guaranteed. Please contact the Admissions Office to inquire about the deferral request process. There is a $55 SOPHAS Express application fee. If the one-year deferral request is approved, there is $700 non-refundable deferral confirmation deposit that will be required. This non-refundable deposit will be credited towards tuition upon enrollment. Please note that during the period of the deferral, students cannot enroll in any degree programs or credit-granting courses.

Please note that your health plan may not cover immunizations you receive at HUHS, in which case you will be responsible for the cost of the immunizations.
Students who have not submitted the immunization forms will not be allowed to enroll and will be withdrawn from program candidacy if the requirements are not met by the add/drop/change deadline.
