Veterans and Quality of Psychiatric Care

Morgan Shields, SM ’16 authored a study on the quality of psychiatric care that veterans are receiving.  Shields looked at several categories of inpatient care at Veterans Affairs-run hospitals and other hospitals.  She found that VA-run hospitals performed significantly lower than non-profit or government-run hospitals especially in the area of admissions screenings to assess risk of violence, trauma, substance use and strength.

Morgan Shields’ interview begins ~ 6:57
