Voice, Choice, and Action: The Potential of Young Citizens to Heal Democracy

Drs. Felton Earls, Emeritus Professor of Human Behavior and Development, and Mary Carlson have co-authored Voice, Choice, and Action that will be published by the Harvard University Press. The release date is set for September 15, 2020.

In four sections — Nurture, Voice, Choice, and Action, the book details the authors’ 30 years of international studies focused on the voice of children. Drs. Earls and Carlson were inspired by the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and traveled to Romania, Bolivia, Brazil, and Tanzania, among other international and domestic locations.

Particularly, the two researchers conducted a field study in Moshi, Tanzania where they witnessed its young population work to change the stigma around HIV/AIDS and to promote universal testing for HIV.
