Health Insurance and Waiver Process

For academic year degree programs, two mandatory fees will be assessed in addition to tuition:

Harvard University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)

Harvard University Student Health Fee (SHF)

    • Full-time students  in very limited circumstances may be eligible to waive this fee
    • Part-time students taking 10 credits or less can waive this fee by the established deadline.
    • Part-time students taking more than 10 credits with comparable coverage may waive this fee by the established deadline. Complete the waiver process with HUHS and if required, the Registrar’s Office will contact you to collect information on comparable coverage.

SHIP and SHF are not assessed for students enrolled in the MPH-EPI, MHCM, MPH-Generalist, summer-focused and summer-only degree programs; or for non-degree students.

Students attending summer programs are strongly encouraged to have alternative health coverage while enrolled.  Summer program students will not be assessed any health charges for the summer and should have alternative coverage should they need care during the summer.
