Dr. David Canning is the Richard Saltonstall Professor of Population Science, and professor of economics and international health in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health; and deputy director of the Program on the Global Demography of Aging at Harvard. Dr. Canning’s research focuses on the role of demographic change (e.g. the effect of changes in age structure on aggregate economic activity) and health improvements (e.g. health as a form of human capital and its affect on worker productivity) in economic development.
