Laura is responsible for overseeing operations, administration, finance, communications, training programs and seminars/events. Laura also works closely with the Center director and stakeholders in setting programmatic goals, building strategic partnerships both domestically and internationally, and disseminating the work and accomplishments of the Center. She has over 25 years experience in project management, marketing, and development at both Harvard and other academic institutions.
Rob is the associate director of finance for the Center, responsible for budgeting and forecasting, endowment and grant management, pre- and post-award financial stewardship, as well as some human resource functions. Rob has over 20 years of operations, financial and administrative management experience with organizations in the non-profit, government, and corporate sectors. Claudette is executive assistant at the Center, reporting to Director Lisa Berkman. She is responsible for maintaining Professor Berkman’s schedule, setting up and maintaining files, coordinating travel arrangements, among other duties. Claudette also provides support in grant preparation, event planning, marketing/communications and other Center-wide initiatives.
Jody Blackwell is a content writer for the Geographic Insights Lab. She provides editorial support to Professor Subramanian and his team for project websites, journal articles, news features, op-eds and grants, and helps with communications strategy to promote and disseminate new research and project-related content. She has a BA in classics from Brown University and over 10 years’ experience in research communications at Harvard.
Panka is the office manager and financial assistant for the Center. His responsibilities include processing of reimbursements and vendor payments, and assisting with grants management, new hire paperwork and payroll. Panka manages IT and audiovisual issues, and oversees all building operations and maintenance.
Jeanne is the grants manager at the Center. Her responsibilities include supporting the capture planning efforts of HCPDS, managing the Center’s pre-award grant development processes, and assisting the financial manager in financial stewardship activities. Her background is varied, including stints in organic farming, retail management, education, and government. Jeanne has an MBA from Boston University where she focused in public and nonprofit management.
Nicole serves as the communications coordinator. She maintains the Pop Center website—as well as project-based sites—and publicizes seminars, events, and the publications and accomplishments of our faculty members and post-doc fellows through social media outlets and an e-newsletter. She also assists in the design and production of collateral associated with special events and projects. Lesley is the program coordinator at the Center. She helps execute special events and the weekly Social Demography Seminars by arranging travel for speakers, ordering catering, and soliciting program materials. She also supports postdoctoral training program recruitment and activities, and provides administrative assistance to Professor Subramanian.
