Mary C. Waters is the PVK Professor of Arts and Sciences; and the John L. Loeb Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at Harvard University. She served as the interim director of the Harvard Pop Center while Lisa Berkman was on sabbatical (2020-2021). Waters specializes in the study of immigration, inter-group relations, the formation of racial and ethnic identity among the children of immigrants, and the challenges of measuring race and ethnicity.
