Nicholas Nguyen

Rose Service Learning Fellow

Nick is an MPH candidate in the Health Policy and Management department who is passionate about improving health equity through education and communication. Growing up in the Kelly House right off of Dorchester Avenue, Nick has a deep connection with the neighborhood’s Vietnamese community. His parents and grandfather helped many Vietnamese immigrants transition to their new lives through the Vietnamese American Civic Association and as a local pharmacist. Nick intends to carry on his family’s dedication to serve the Vietnamese community through his love of social entrepreneurship, endeavoring to build trust and bridge the gap in health literacy to empower community engagement.

Nick’s project is with Harbor Health, where he focuses on advancing current initiatives to evaluate and improve quality of care and patient experience specifically among the community health center’s Vietnamese population. These initiatives currently aim to increase health equity among the Vietnamese community primarily located in Dorchester through cultural awareness and community collaboration across multiple programs including medical services, food access, and elder care (PACE).
