Emmanuel Mensah

Rose Service Learning Fellow

Emmanuel is a Master of Public Health graduate student at the Department of Global Health and Population. Throughout his journey as a health professional, he has remained consistent in his passion to bridge health inequities, from tackling the issue of falsified and substandard medications in LMICs to his current mission to improve access to neurosurgical services in sub-Saharan Africa. Emmanuel has previously worked in Zambia, embarking on public health education and screening campaigns to improve access of children with hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida, often marginalized, to life–saving and life–normalizing treatment.

Emmanuel will be working with NeuroKids, a charity aimed at providing training, treatment, and equipment to reduce the burden of pediatric neurosurgical conditions in LMICs. He will be working in Lusaka and other rural provinces in Zambia to create and implement a care coordination tool for identifying, referring, and following up children faced with hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida.
