Manfred Mate-Kole, a Ghanaian physician and Master of Public Health candidate in the Department of Global Health and Population, is dedicated to using community-based, evidence-driven interventions to tackle intricate health issues, with a particular focus on non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular care and cancer control. Throughout his career, he has explored novel approaches to managing non-communicable diseases and has advocated for the integration of basic life support training into the Ghanaian secondary school curriculum, actively participating in volunteer work.

“Manfred’s project conducted in collaboration with On-Field Life Savers Organization (OFIS) Ghana, aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a community-based, community-led intervention focused on reducing the burden of hypertension and diabetes. The evaluation involves assessing facilitators and barriers to awareness within Hypertension and Diabetes Advocacy Hubs (HADA Hubs) across diverse social groups, including market women, fishermen, and long-distance bus drivers.
The goal is to obtain valuable insights for refining the model, enhancing program efficacy, and ensuring scalability to other districts and regions in Ghana.
