David R. Williams’s Opinion in The Washington Post

Dr. David R. Williams, Florence Sprague Norman and Laura Smart Norman Professor of Public Health and chair of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, has recently written “Stress was already killing black Americans. Covid-19 is making it worse.” in The Washington Post.

“As covid-19 continues to devastate communities of color, I worry that another pandemic is looming — one that will further sicken and shorten black lives, with disastrous long-term effects for our young people,” Dr. Williams begins in his opinion.

“I’m talking about a pandemic of stress, which already has profound implications for the mental and physical health of black Americans and will have a dangerous impact long after the novel coronavirus has been contained.”
