Excerpt From The Chair’s Welcome Message
We live in a society that has established social policies and institutions that ensure reduced access to opportunities for individuals simply based on their skin color. For those of us committed to a healthier future for all, the time has come for a renewed commitment and greater mobilization to dismantle the systems of oppression that produce large racial inequities in access to socioeconomic opportunity, which in turn sustain racial/ethnic inequities in health. -David R. Williams, Department Chair
