Armen H. Tashjian Jr.Dr. Tashjian, Professor of Toxicology, Emeritus, in the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, led the school’s toxicology program for three decades. He was a pioneer in demonstrating the importance of understanding the molecular mechanisms of toxicity of environmental chemicals and therapeutic agents. Dr. Tashjian also made seminal contributions in the area of endocrinology and mechanisms of hormone action. He was a recipient of the Astwood Award for his basic scientific research and the Endocrine Society’s Distinguished Leadership Award. He served as president of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and the International Bone and Mineral Society. His work was instrumental in the introduction of powerful therapeutics against osteoporosis in humans. Dr. Tashjian has been an officer in numerous scientific societies, served on NIH study sections and government advisory panels, and on the editorial boards of over 15 scientific journals including the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Tashjian was a devoted teacher throughout the entirety of his career and mentored nearly one hundred graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Sheng Tony Hui, Ph.D.

Sheng Tony Hui, Ph.D.Dr. Sheng Tony Hui joined the Department of Molecular Metabolism at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as an assistant professor in 2020. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Hong Kong Baptist University and his Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of California at San Diego. He performed his postdoctoral training at Princeton University. The Hui lab aims to understand the fundamental mechanisms that regulate body weight and target these mechanisms to treat obesity and cachexia. Dr. Hui is also the Faculty Director of the Harvard Chan Advanced Multi-omics Platform.
