Study finds racial disparities in hitting developmental milestones among young transgender women

Head shot of Sari Reisner

Harvard Pop Center faculty member Sari Reisner, ScD, is an author on a study that examines what age young women develop and express their transgender identities, finding that Black & Latina transgender women begin disclosing their identity to others earlier than White transgender women. One reason that such developmental milestones are important to track is to potentially mitigate the risk of acquiring HIV and other STDs. The study has received some media attention.
