Rose Traveling Fellowship Program
Applications for the Spring 2024 cycle of the Rose Traveling Fellowship Program in Chronic Disease Epidemiology and Biostatistics are now being accepted. Dr. Deborah Rose generously provides financial support for masters’/doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars traveling abroad for internships, research work or any other academically-related project. The goal of the program is to give scholars a cross-cultural experience in a developed or developing country. Excellence and an ability to make a difference are the top criteria.  The deadline for application submission will be Friday, April 12th at 5pm. (please include “Rose Traveling Fellowship Program” in your email subject line).  Complete applications should consist of:one-page personal essay describing:
  • Travel plans,
  • Research Strategy or internship objective,
  • The background experience and skills an applicant will bring to the project,
  • The skills or experience the applicant hopes to acquire during their travel abroad,
  • How the experience fits into their overall academic and career goals
  • recommendation letter from the applicant’s academic advisor or other faculty member that is familiar with their academic plans must be included in the application;
  • budget outlining the costs and total amount being applied for. Please note awards of only $5,000 or $10,000 are granted. Awards are not issued based on the total amount budgeted for. Finally, when calculating the budget, applicants must account for both state and federal income tax.
Upon receipt of all applications, Drs. Albert Hofman and John Quackenbush will conduct a joint review of the applications. Following that meeting decisions will be communicated along with their recommendations by the end of April.If there are any questions, please be in touch with Allison Hakioglu.
