Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee

Working in collaboration with the School’s Office for Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), and with guidance on best practices from offices with similar charges across the University and the academic community, our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee (EDIB) committee will be charged to:

  • Examine departmental culture and experience, and make recommendations for promoting anti-racism, strengthening equity and fostering inclusion.
  • Identify strategies to strengthen the pipeline for members of underrepresented groups into our student programs, postdoctoral fellow, research associate, research scientist, and faculty ranks, as well as our staffing structure. This includes a review of funding, resource, and support systems currently in place or still needed to strengthen recruitment and retention. The committee will establish quantitative and qualitative goals for increasing applications from those in underrepresented groups, and develop post-training metrics to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Implement or improve trainings, resources, and communications that promote anti-racism, encourage growth and push our collective dialog forward.
