Lee-Jen Wei, Ph.D.Professor, Department of Biostatistcs, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public HealthHow to Quantify and Interpret the Treatment Effect for Comparative COVID-19 Clinical Studies? Abstract: Clinical trials of treatments for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) draw intense public attention. More than ever, valid, transparent, and intuitive summaries of the treatment effects, including efficacy and harm, are needed. In this talk, we will discuss the issues of the study endpoints selection and how to quantify and interpret the treatment difference using various endpoints. Specifically, we will talk about the concerns for the current COVID-19 trials and proposals for alternative procedures discussed in the following two papers.Selecting appropriate endpoints for assessing treatment effects in comparative clinical studies for COVID-19Link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1551714420302238How to Quantify and Interpret Treatment Effects in Comparative Clinical Studies of COVID-19Link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7350552/
