HCPDS faculty member Claudia Goldin has been award the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for her comprehensive research into women’s participation in the U.S. labor force over centuries, highlighting inequalities in wages by gender.

Harvard Pop Center faculty member Claudia Goldin, PhD, has authored a working paper titled “Understanding the Economic Impact of COVID-19 on Women” that reveals that the stresses experienced by certain women (depending on education, occupation, and race) during the pandemic had more to do with the fact that they stayed employed while also educating their children and/or taking care of their aging parents as opposed to losing their jobs. Claudia Goldin is first woman to receive Nemmers Prize in Economics
Harvard Pop Center faculty member Claudia Goldin, PhD, has been awarded the 2020 Nemmers Prize in Economics by Northwestern University. Dr. Goldin was selected to receive this prize “for her groundbreaking insights into the history of the American economy, the evolution of gender roles and the interplay of technology, human capital and labor markets.” Congratulations, Professor Goldin!
