Our congratulations to Luca Pinello, Principal Investigator at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and member of the Program in Quantitative Genomics, who recently received a Genomic Innovators Awards of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) given to investigators for facilitating flexible, ambitious and creative research. The award recognizes Pinello’s efforts in investigating disease-associated variants that lie in regions of the genome that do not code for genes, but that regulate gene expression. Dr. Pinello’s team is currently working to develop approaches to understand how these regulatory elements function and how mutations in these areas can contribute to disease. Congratulations Dr. Pinello!
