Abstract: In this workshop I will provide a brief overview of group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) with a focus on applications in medicine and epidemiology. I will then discuss more recent advances in GBTM. These include multi-trajectory modeling, a generalized model that accounts for non-random subject attrition, and the use of posterior probabilities of group membership to predict the course of biomarkers and other indicators of disease progression or a patient’s recovery from a medical procedure. No prior background in trajectory modeling or a programming language is required.
