Diversity Workshop at ENAR

lin-2015Another great story from ENAR – on behalf of our department, Xihong Lin attended a half-day workshop on Fostering Diversity in Biostatistics, which the department co-sponsored. The workshop provided a forum for discussion of important issues related to diversity with a focus on career and training opportunities within biostatistics. The workshop also focused on connecting underrepresented minority students interested in biostatistics with professional biostatisticians in academia, government and industry. Xihong served on a panel and shared with the workshop participants several activities in the department that aim at promoting diversity, such as our annual summer program, the faculty workshop,  and the summer symposium, which have been supported by an NIH grant for which Rebecca Betensky serves as the PI. Xihong also discussed our Master and PhD programs including the new Health Data Science Master program and our department’s strong commitment in promoting diversity. She enjoyed interacting with many underrepresented minority undergraduates, graduates, and faculty attendees at the workshop.
