Maria Simoneau, Project Manager

Maria is joining the Biostatistics team after five years within the HSPH Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, where she provided program management for research projects studying determinants of health disparities among racial/ethnic and socioeconomic status groups.  Prior to her time at HSPH, Maria worked in private industry in a variety of product marketing and project management roles on highly available networking equipment as well as mobile and communications application platforms.  She holds an MBA from Babson College and a BS in Computer Science from Boston College.

Maria is originally from New Hampshire and since then has lived in the Boston area except for two years when she lived in Belgium.   Her interests include spending time with family, sailing and hiking.

Emily Petro, Research Assistant

Emily received her MPH from Boston University (concentration in Social and Behavioral Sciences /Community Health) and her BS from the University of Rhode Island (Biological Sciences).  She has a variety of experience in the research setting, most recently serving as a Clinical Research Assistant /Regulatory Specialist at BIDMC for a large multi-site research study focusing on patient’s experiences with bariatric surgery.  Emily has also worked in various research capacities for Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, ICF International, BU Department of Epidemiology, and Cambridge Health Alliance.

Emily is a Pennsylvania native, and has been living in the Boston/Rhode Island area for 15 years. Her research interests include behavioral genetics and access to healthcare and health technologies in underserved communities.
