Fighting Back: standing up for science in the Time of Trump
Over the past two years there has been an unprecedented sidelining of science in federal public policy by the Trump Administration. Ignoring scientific evidence, cutting scientists out of the decision making process, rolling back public health and safety protections and changing how the government engages with the science community have become commonplace. In this talk I will describe some of the attacks on science and the response from scientists in many disciplines. The Union of Concerned Scientists has been advocating for science for 50 years. Never has the energy been higher in the science community to speak out an be heard. I will conclude with a discussion of the how scientists can be more engaged in the public dialogue.
