Alumnus Nick Horton, ScD ’99, who is the Beitzel Professor in Technology and Society (Statistics and Data Science) at Amherst College, has been appointed co-chair of the National Academies Committee on Applied and Theoretical Statistics (CATS), along with Lance Waller of Emory University.
CATS advises stakeholders in government, academia, industry, and nonprofit organizations on statistics and data science, and their many applications. By convening workshops, consensus studies, and other activities, CATS connects frontiers in statistics research, education, training, and practice to issues of national and global importance.
