Assistant Professor of Biostatistics Rui Duan, was recently named a recipient of the Dean’s Fund for Scientific Advancement! Dr. Duan received an Activation Award for her project titled “TransPRS: a federated transfer learning framework for improving polygenic risk prediction in underrepresented populations.” Activation Awards represent a critical component of the funding program and are intended to support idea generation for junior faculty.
Additionally, Dr. Duan was also awarded a 2021 IMS New Researcher Travel Award for her paper titled “Heterogeneity-aware and communication-efficient distributed statistical inference”.
