Congratulations to postdoc Falco J. Bargagli Stoffi who was recently awarded the Postdoctoral Research Fund from the Harvard Data Science Initiative!
His research project will focus on the development and application of interpretable causal machine learning approaches for the detection of the subgroups that suffer the highest health and economic costs attributable to exposure to air pollution. The causal assessment of the adverse health care costs and their differential impact among various subgroups will provide policymakers with accurate and interpretable analyses of the heterogeneous health and economic impact of air pollution. These analyses will inform actions that could be taken including the implementation of more stringent regulations and/or the creation of economic relief policies targeting most vulnerable groups. Moreover, his research will provide further insights on the role of exposure to air pollution in fostering environmental injustice.
