Intekhab Hossain Receives Fellowship & Wins Poster Prize at ITCR

Intekhab HossainCongratulations to Biostats PhD candidate Intekhab (Inté) Hossain who recently received a fellowship from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center to fund his attendance at the Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR 2022) meeting in St. Louis last week.Inté presented his work on designing Prior-Informed Neural Ordinary Differential Equations, an explainable ML tool for modeling the dynamics of time-dependent gene regulatory networks. His abstract was selected for a lightning talk and a poster,  where he described the statistical development and the scaling of the method to infer genome-wide networks in breast cancer. The poster received a cash prize for being among the top three posters at ITCR 2022.This work was done in collaboration with former Biostatistics postdoc Rebekka Burkholz (now assistant professor at the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security in Germany) and his advisor, department chair John Quackenbush.
