Congratulations to PhD candidate Stephanie Wu who was awarded the ASA’s Edward C. Bryant Scholarship for an outstanding graduate student in survey statistics at JSM 2022, after being nominated by Dr. Bethany Hedt-Gauthier. The award recognizes her work in: 1) survey statistics methodology, through her thesis work on supervised Bayesian clustering approaches for survey data, co-advised by Dr. Briana Stephenson and Dr. Michael Hughes; and 2) survey statistics applications, through her collaboration with the World Health Organization on national surveillance protocols for detecting acquired HIV drug resistance, mentored by Dr. Bethany Hedt-Gauthier and Dr. Michael Jordan (Assistant Professor of Medicine and Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University). Stephanie is also grateful for the support of her dissertation committee members, Dr. Brent Coull and Dr. Sebastien Haneuse.
