In the fall of 2015, Shirley Liu succeeded Rafa Irizarry as the Chair of the NIH Genomics, Computational Biology and Technology (GCAT) Study Section. Her chair term will be for two years. Proposals reviewed by GCAT focus on developing new computational and statistical methods for genomic studies, or conducting global and integrative analyses of biological systems. As the chair, Shirley facilitates the discussions of proposal reviews by the GCAT study members. Two of our faculty John Quackenbush and Jun Liu were former GCAT regular members, and our former postdoctoral fellow Wei Li is a new GCAT regular member. Congratulations, Shirley!
