Cassandra Arroyo-Johnson, PhD ‘2003 (first author) and Melody Goodman, PhD ‘2006 are authors on a paper entitled “Racial and Ethnic Heterogeneity in Self-Reported Diabetes Prevalence Trends Across Hispanic Subgroups, National Health Interview Survey, 1997–2012” published by Preventing Chronic Disease in January 2016. Their findings show that the prevalence of diabetes is higher among Hispanics than among non-Hispanic whites, unevenly distributed across Hispanic subgroups, and more pronounced over time and by education. Cassandra and Melody are currently faculty members of Washington University School of Medicine.
