New Interactive Site for Visualizing COVID-19’s Rt

Professor Xihong Lin and her team of students and postdocs have recently launched a new website where interactive maps help to visualize COVID-19’s Effective Reproduction Number (Rt) in real time throughout the world, at various resolutions from country level all the way down to state/province and county levels. These results can be used to not only identify areas that are vulnerable hotspots, but to prioritize responses including test-trace-isolate. Displaying results from data through June 13th, the site’s tools show the Rt and the case count by date for any chosen country, state and county and compare the Rt’s between different countries, states and counties.  A current map shows the top 25 counties with the highest Rt value, indicating a rising rate of cases in those specific areas.
