Maryland

Thank you Maryland Delegates Vogel, Acevero, Amprey, Boafo, Guzzone, Ivey, Lopez, McComas, Mireku-North, Queen, Taveras, Turner, and Woods for being champions of HB0634, and thank you to Maryland Senators Benson, King, and Corderman, for being champions of SB0602, both of which aim to protect young people from dangerous weight loss supplements.

This session, HB0739/SB1137 was reintroduced and heard in front of the Health and Government Operations Committee on February 28, 2024. This bill follows a slightly different approach from similar legislation by adopting an incremental approach. If passed, the bill will require the Maryland Department of Public Health to create and periodically update a list of diet pills and weight-loss supplements.
