Prohibiting the Sale and Use of Silicone Injections

The sale and use of liquid silicone injections to change body shape and appearance continue to have severe and dangerous ramifications for the health and wellbeing of individuals. The FDA has not approved the use of liquid silicone injections for cosmetic alterations, yet unscrupulous providers, many without appropriate medical licenses, continue to prey on individuals struggling with body dissatisfaction who are vulnerable to deceptive promises of safety. Our model legislation, “An Act prohibiting the sale or use of liquid silicone for the purpose of injection into the human body,” would ban the sale or use of dangerous liquid silicone injections, protecting the health and wellbeing of patients.
