On Thursday, Nov. 1, STRIPED and the Harvard Initiative for Learning & Teaching (HILT),
with support from the HILT Affinity Group for Case Studies, hosted a half-day workshop titled, “Challenges and Opportunities for Designing and Implementing Case-based Learning in the Online Space”
Workshop objectives:
Explore options for online case-based course interface, design and evaluation
Maximize learner engagement and group cohesion
Discover online instructional design resources
Abstract: This half-day workshop convened colleagues from across the Harvard community who are engaged or interested in developing case-method teaching courses for online delivery. The goal of the workshop was to provide a structured forum to share activities and solutions generated in response to common hurdles, to generate innovative course design ideas during a mini hack-a-thon, and to establish a network of colleagues for further interaction and collaboration. Although the event focused on online case-method teaching, the strategies, resources and discussion covered topics and tools that are applicable to online teaching in any form.
